Re: green board vs cement board Who in the heck is still using Green Board anymore, I keep hearing that people are still installing them. I don't know of one person, that has used Green Board in over 10 years. I don't know of one Contractor that has used Green Board in that many years also. Its been somewhere around 15 yrs for me. Complete the job by piecing in any missing drywall and taping the seams. Cut drywall to fill in between the existing wall or ceiling and the cement board. Screw the drywall to the studs. Cover all of the corners, joints and seams, including the joint where drywall and cement board meet, with the fiberglass mesh tape.

My question is, can I install cement board over the drywall, and then waterproof the cement board with RedGard (or something similar) and then tile? I'd rather not take the time and make the mess to remove the drywall and install the cement board directly to the studs as would be the usual process.
